What the FAQ?

What’s a service business?

Typically, a service business provides intangible products, such as expertise, assistance, or labour, and increasingly software (SaaS). These products are delivered directly to (B2C and B2B) customers, often involving personalised interactions and tailored to individual requirements. For example:

Financial: Firms, advisors and brokers offering advice, representation and intermediary services.

Education: Schools, colleges, universities, tutoring centres, and online education platforms.

Cleaning: Commercial, industrial and residential.

Repair and maintenance: Fixed site or remote technicians and engineers.

Tech: Software development, cybersecurity, SaaS (software as a service), support services, and infrastructure.

Fitness and wellness: Gyms, yoga studios, personal trainers, spas, and wellness centres.

Event management: Planning, management and coordination services.

Property: Management agencies and brokers.

What can Coaching & Mentoring help me with?

My priority is your confidence – helping you make sense of your thoughts, feelings and behaviours, so you are in the right place to make better judgements. I can help you with:

  • Prioritising and managing your workloads.

  • Developing yourself, your business, your people, and your processes.

  • Navigating change, challenges or conflicts.

  • Defining your goals and identifying the gaps.

  • Engaging and empowering your team.

  • Attracting better customers (brand/marketing).

  • Business strategy for facilitating growth.

  • Planning and forecasting.

How does Coaching & Mentoring work?

The first thing to do is to determine whether the coach (me) and client (you) are a good fit. This is done over a 30-min call, where we discuss your ambitions and challenges in the short to medium term. If both parties are happy to proceed, we agree on the terms and arrange the first session.

In each session, I use a blend of skills and techniques to help you unlock your performance or achieve a specific personal or professional goal.

Through confidential, careful questioning, guidance and experience, each session is designed to build awareness, empower choice and lead both parties towards a positive outcome.

Are Coaching & Mentoring sessions confidential?

In short, yes. I adhere to the EMCC Code of Ethics, which means details of our sessions are kept in the strictest of confidence. At no time will identifying information about you or your organisation be given to anyone outside our working relationship without your approval unless any of the following exceptions apply:

  • If you threaten to harm yourself or others

  • If instructed by a court of law

  • If you have shared information about a proposed illegal act

I also ask that you hold the same confidentiality of our sessions and not make available the contents without prior consent. This explicitly refers to recorded, live-streamed or audio of our sessions being posted on social media or shared with a 3rd party.

How long is a Coaching & Mentoring session?

For me, the ‘Goldilocks’ of session lengths is 1.5 hours. I find 1 hour can feel rushed and 2 hours is far too long. So I tend to block 1.5 hours for each session. If we don’t use it all, no problem, you have the gift of time to do something else productive.

How much time should be left between Coaching & Mentoring sessions?

This is entirely up to you. As a guide, most clients choose to meet biweekly (every 2 weeks). It’s enough time to gather your thoughts and take action without drifting to the next session.

How much does a Coaching & Mentoring session cost?

You can buy ‘sessions’ in one of three ways.

  1. As a single session: £150 + VAT*

  2. As a block of 3x sessions: £375 + VAT* (equates to £125 per session)

  3. As a block of 6x sessions: £600 + VAT* (equates to £100 per session)

*Transactions are billed in advance via Go Cardless

What’s the minimum number of Coaching & Mentoring sessions I should have?

Although there is no minimum, I recommend no less than 3 sessions. By the end of the third session, we will both know whether it is worth continuing.

Do you do face-to-face Coaching & Mentoring sessions?

Yes, in-person sessions are possible, if preferred. This will depend on your location and joint availability, which can be discussed and agreed upon before the first session. Travel costs of 0.45p per mile may also be added for travel over 25 miles.

Do you do remote Coaching & Mentoring sessions?

Yes, almost all my sessions are on Zoom or Microsoft Teams, whichever is preferable.

When logging in to a remote session, it is advisable to do so from a quiet and private environment. It is also helpful to find somewhere that has a stable internet reception.

Sessions over the phone are possible but only if video calls are inappropriate.
